rethinking wellness:
call to the wild
The positive effects of nature on our well-being and the science behind it
Have you ever wondered why you feel more energized while spending time outdoors? Why sitting in the sand by the ocean, or hiking through the woods, or having a picnic in a park, or swimming in a lake leave you feeling both invigorated and at peace?
Mounting scientific evidence is now showing how experiencing nature can facilitate improvements in our overall health and life.
Following research observing people in forest environments, it is becoming better recognized that: our immune system is boosted; oxygen uptake is higher; lung and heart functions are improved; our body produces increased endorphins; and cellular repair mechanisms are more efficient.
Building off this evolving scientific literature, physicians are writing prescriptions for their patients, and then also facilitating their ability, to spend time outdoors in nearby parks close to their homes.
iRewild’s collaborative expert, Dr. Angood, explains the significant benefits of experiencing nature and helps to collate the confusing sets of scientific evidence that are spread around in a variety of research disciplines and databases.
Turns out, keeping our lives simpler, while also getting out into nature, can actually provide profound benefits to our lives in so many ways.
Dr. Angood delivers a compelling and life changing presentation where participants learn about the science of how nature exposure is beneficial to their wellness and life overall.
