Ode Soliven currently resides in Bukidnon, Mindanao in the Philippines. She works for the Hineleban Foundation Inc. as a monitoring & evaluations officer, while also assisting the foundation in establishing its school for agriculture.
The Hineleban Foundation actively supports reforestation, environmental conservation, and sustainable farming practices, and provides sustainable livelihood options for the Bangsamoro and Indigenous People from the high mountain forests of Mindanao in order to preserve the Mount Kitanglad rainforest ecosystem. Rooted in the belief that neither the forest nor the people can thrive without the other, the foundation approaches its goal in three stages — first, through food security, followed by sustainable livelihood, and, finally, reforestation.
Ms. Soliven attained her bachelor's degree in environmental science from the University of Ateneo de Manila, Philippines, in 2019. She continues to pursue her interest in the field of environmental psychology at the University of California in San Diego, California, where she is currently enrolled in a certification program on sustainability & behavior change.
Ms. Soliven is passionate about spending time in nature. As a lifetime member of the Loyola Mountaineers and the Institute of Skin Divers of Ateneo, she frequents the outdoors and has learned basic skills in mountaineering, skin diving, and first aid.
