Michael Johnson, AIF, co-founded CAVU Capital and is the firm’s senior managing director where he advises mid-market technology companies. He partners with companies and investors to navigate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, private placements of debt and equity, as well as advisory assignments, and business valuations.
Michael has seventeen years of extensive experience in mergers and acquisition consulting and corporate investment advisement. Prior to CAVU, Michael served as managing director at Skyway Capital Markets and CEA Financial Associates, other boutique investment banks. Before that, Michael served as an investment consultant at Mercer, a Fortune 500 firm. As a lead advisor and relationship manager, he provided financial oversight and corporate advice for a variety of domestic and international companies.
Michael earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois and completed graduate work at DePaul University in Chicago. He holds his Series 6, 63, 65, and 79 licenses with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) as well as the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies, and he is ASPPA Retirement Plan Fundamental certified.
Michael is actively involved in his profession and his community. He serves on boards and committees of his church, and several non-profit organizations, many of which focus on improving the lives of children in foster care, a cause for which he and his wife share a passion. Michael currently serves on the boards of A Kid’s Place and Stay-In-Step. He is also actively involved in several key roles with the Society of International Business Fellows (SIBF) and the Association of Corporate Growth (ACG), and works to support the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Florida and beyond.
